Tejasvee Nagar

gold fish

My attention span is that of a goldfish,

You take me out of my space and my mind will kill all the food of thought that it has saved,

I swim in the bowl that you placed me in,

my space of possibilities are less,

I am not allowed to step into the ocean,

I am worth looking,

But if you glance away,

I shall die,

I am a narcissist give me all your attention,

My attention span is that of a goldfish.

 something is fishy

The space inside an aquarium is limited,

like the frog that lived a limited life voluntarily in tales,

I feel my life has been forcefully limited,

why is a baby shark in an opposite tank,

when it should be sailing in the sea,

chasing captain hook,

I find it absurd that we are better in fantasy,

and now you see us more in posters,

when oil spills kill,

I stay with my eyes wide open and await the news,

of my fellow fishes being safe,

I stay still and they think I died,

but the truth is in this limited space I can't find my strength to move,

I have become lazy,

I feel the pain and I understand the fake backgrounds,

But humans can't see us until they dive into the blues,

Some can even catch them and make a prey out of them,

So, I stay.

Submitting to the anthropocentric world.
