Rainbow Fish
Tore away his skin
               To try and fit in
Flecks of iridescent kissesÂ
               Gone
All because other fish
Decided they wanted to wear him
Imagine having
To tear away your own flesh
And give it away, like
               Clouds give rainÂ
First in sprinklesÂ
               Then downpours
Until there’s nothing left of them
Just so the sky can scream blue
Without white wisps of fishÂ
               Obstructing its view
Fitting then
That a rainbow should appear after
It’s coloured arch a mocking smile
               Even in its impermanence
It makes you wonder
If the other fish wanted a spark on their scalesÂ
OrÂ
If they took more pleasure watching a rainbow disappearÂ
